FULL BIO

Luca Ray is a German singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Blending alternative pop, indie and rock, she pairs atmospheric soundscapes with unflinchingly honest lyrics. Her music speaks to the sides of being human that are so often left unspoken — self-doubt, mental health, identity, relationships, and the longing to truly belong somewhere.

Raised in a small village in Germany, Luca Ray found her way to music early. She was given her first guitar at eleven and taught herself guitar and piano largely by ear. Both instruments remain at the heart of her creative work today. After school she spent two years in a recording studio, learning songwriting, recording and production. Even then, she was writing, composing and producing her own songs entirely on her own.

Though her passion always belonged to songwriting, she kept her own projects in the background for a long time. For years she believed she wasn't good enough to bring her own music into the world. Instead she began producing electronic music — a path that eventually led her to a management deal and into the DJ scene.

She taught herself to DJ and played national and international events. Among them, she performed at the Donauinselfest in Vienna, played the aftershow party of Timmy Trumpet's Freak Show, and was a supporting act for Scooter. Her DJ sets were also broadcast on Austrian radio.

Despite this success, she gradually realised she wasn't living the career she had always imagined. She never wanted to just make music — she wanted to make her own music. After parting ways with her management at the time, she withdrew from music entirely.

The turning point came unexpectedly. For her aunt's wedding she wrote a personal song and performed it live for the first time. The audience's reaction — and the question that kept coming back, why she wasn't doing her own music professionally — gave her the push to give her original dream a second chance. Not because the doubts were gone, but because the need to tell her own story had grown louder than they were.

Today, Luca Ray writes, composes and produces her own music. Shaped by personal experience and years of feeling like she didn't belong, she creates songs that are honest without hiding behind metaphor. Moving between alternative pop, indie and rock, she builds a sound that allows for vulnerability without ever losing hope.

With her debut single Lovebomb, 2026 marks the first official chapter of her career as a singer-songwriter. Yet Luca Ray isn't chasing a goal that can be measured in streaming numbers or headlines. She wants to make music that connects people — not through perfection, but through honesty.

Because Luca Ray believes no one should be alone with their thoughts, fears or doubts. Her music isn't meant to be a place where people have to become someone else. It's meant to be a place where they find the courage to be themselves.

In the end, it's not about being the loudest voice in the room — it's about people finding the courage to raise their own.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I don't believe artists save people. I believe that, in the end, people save themselves. If my music gets to be the spark in that moment, even once, then that's the greatest gift I can imagine. I know what it feels like to feel different. I know what it's like to doubt yourself. To live with mental health struggles. To think you're not enough — while somehow always feeling like you're too much. I know the feeling of being ashamed. And I believe that's exactly what's wrong. Because the shame doesn't belong to the people something was done to. It belongs to the people who cause the harm. That's why I will never pretend that difficult subjects are awkward or off-limits. I will talk about mental health. About exclusion. About human rights. About the LGBTQ+ community. About sexism, racism and animal welfare. Not because I have all the answers, but because silence has never changed anything. Music was always the place where I could simply be me. When I write, space and time disappear. There, I don't have to prove anything to anyone. There, I don't have to fit into any box. There, there is only honesty. That's exactly why I don't want a classic fanbase. I want a community. One where people make friends at shows. Catch each other. Find their way back to themselves. A community that still exists long after the music has stopped playing. If one day someone goes home after a show and thinks: "Maybe I'm not as alone as I always thought." …then that night was a success. And if one day someone says about me: "We made the right person famous." …then I hope it won't be because of my music, but because of the way I treated people. I won't bend myself to fit in somewhere. I won't stay quiet when people are treated unjustly. And I will never let fear become more important than compassion. In the end, I only wish for one thing: that my music doesn't tell people who they should be — but gives them the courage to discover who they've always been.
